INDEPENDENT FILM NOW!

Filmmakers Alliance has supported the production of hundreds of independent shorts and features since 1993 and once again brings you INDEPENDENT FILM NOW - a state-of-the-union look at the indie film landscape, as well as an A to Z, step-by-step seminar for independent filmmakers, providing the KEY information needed to get your next project MADE and SEEN. INDEPENDENT FILM NOW is a clear, concise and complete view of independent filmmaking, helping you create a blueprint for your life as a filmmaker!!

What is independent film?  - A brief examination/overview of the state of Independent Film that will help you define your place in that universe.

Concept, Story and Script - Developing ideas and concepts that work! How to write your script in a way that can increase its chances of getting made - without compromising your vision.

Film Financing - Private Equity Financing, Grants, Crowd-funding, Tax Credits and the Legalities: where to find the money, what you need to do to get it and how to avoid any legal issues at any point down the road.

Making The Film - How to get the most filmmaking bang from your budget - creatively and cost-efficiently managing your project. Also, how best to work with actors, crew, locations, unions, guilds, crafts to ensure your film not only gets made, but looks exponentially more than its cost. Then, find out how best to give a stunning, world-class finish to your film and how to prepare for it long before you reach post.

Festivals, Marketing Distribution - New distribution platforms are emerging all of the time. How does one differentiate from another and what is the best one for your project? Also, understanding the festival circuit: how to use it to your film’s greatest advantage. Finally, devising and executing a marketing plan that will give your film it’s best shot at success!

The seminar also includes filmmaker case-studies and open Q&A periods, so come prepared with your specific filmmaking questions - the ones that most have you stumped. We'll give you all that you need to take your film - and filmmaking life - to the next level.

Lunch generously provided by Canon.
